Journey Through KhorasanMy second Iran journey brought me to Khorasan in the North East of the country, at the border to Afghanistan. We were three women travelling on our own. And in this cradle of Sufism we didn't only visit the tombs of famous Sufi masters like Bistami and Attar, but we were also able to make contact with Iranian Sufis, and we visited the Sufi mosque of Bidokht, a small desert village near Gonabad. Khorasan is very fertile, it's the breadbasket of Iran and famous for its pistachios, apricot trees and last not least its safran. |
