HornstrandirThe nature reserve of Hornstrandir lies in the North West of Iceland. Because of the harsh climate the region is no longer populated since 50 to 80 years (depending on the area). Some of the descendants of the ancient farmers have built summer houses there. But walkers nevertheless have to carry all their belongings on their back, including the food and the waste they produce. |
