Milarepa's cave below the glacier of Annapurna IIIOne of the highlights of the Annapurna trek in Nepal 2018 was the ascent from Braka to the cave where the Tibetan Saint Milarepa is said to have lived and meditated for some years. The typical pose with his hand at the right ear is often explained as a sign, that he was a famous singer and poet. Actually it is a typical mudra position from the Long-De-Tradition (meditation on inner space and sound). Below the cave is a gompa, which is looked after by an old monk. He showed us stone imprints of Milarepa's hand and skull. And he invited us to sip tea with him in his hut, when it began to snow outside. |
